The Coastal Calligraphers Guild is happy to debut its new website and blog. We are busy preparing for our next meeting which is this Sunday, March 2, 2014, at 1:00p.m. The meeting will feature the next installment of our year of Fascinating Letters, entitled, “It’s All Greek to Me” by Krystyna Sznurkowski.  We will be traveling back to Ancient Greece! We’ll look at the Greek alphabet and Greek keys, and make Greek worry beads and boxes for them…and of course…put some Windex on it! (You’ve all seen that movie, right?)

Materials provided:

  • Beads
  • Colored chords for beads
  • Mod Podge
  • Template for boxes
  • Greek phrases
  • Printed instructions
  • Lettering guides
  • WINDEX!

Please bring:

  • Medium to large needle for stringing beads (I have a couple of extra that can be borrowed)
  • Fine Sharpies or other indelible pens
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Colored chord if you have one you’d like to use
  • Paint brush for Mod-Podge
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Bone folder
  • Sketch book to practice lettering
  • Glue or double-sided tape
  • Paper towels

Optional:

  • Thin skewers
  • If you have a greek saying that you like, that is short (brevity is the soul of wit) – I will bring several examples that can be used and modified to suit
  • Metallic and or white permanent markers

It looks to be a great meeting. Hope to see you there!
